Hosted Matrix Bridges.

What are EMS Matrix bridging services?

Matrix is an open standard, designed to bring interoperability to real time communication.

While Matrix adoption is exploding, some very popular apps are still based on traditional proprietary technology. EMS has a range of hosted bridging services that deliver interoperability with traditional apps including Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and Discord.

Add bridges to your hosted Matrix infrastructure to connect with people stuck in a walled garden app.

WhatsApp

For interoperability between WhatsApp and Matrix.

Slack

Connect Slack channels and Matrix rooms for interoperability.

MS Teams

For interoperability between MS Teams and Matrix.

Signal

For interoperability between Signal and Matrix.

Gitter

For native interoperability between Gitter and Matrix.

Discord

Connect text-based Discord channels and Matrix rooms.

Telegram

For interoperability between Telegram and Matrix.

IRC

Dynamically bridge IRC channels and synchronise user-lists.

How are EMS bridging services deployed?

Bridges are deployed as a third party integration. They are set up in the app by configuring both sides, the Matrix one and the bridge one, so they can communicate with one another.

The details of the set up vary per bridge as each third party app has different types of connector.

Some bridges show users natively on both sides, others as bots relaying the user's message, depending on the bridge implementation.

Minimal IT admin support is required from external parties.
Bridging is charged according to the number of remote users sending messages from the ‘other’ side of the bridge into the Element/Matrix environment.

Matrix is an open network for secure, decentralised communication, connecting 42M+ users over 80K+ deployments.

Governed by The Matrix.org Foundation, the Matrix protocol is an open standard with open source implementations, supporting a vibrant developer ecosystem. Element was founded by the team behind Matrix as a way to bring it to the mainstream.
